About Equal-Invest

Equal-Invest

Equal-Invest was a development project for social enterprises, funded under the Equal Initiative (ESF) in the UK.

The partners for Equal-Invest were Tribal Group plc (lead partner), and . Tribal's role was to provide overall project management (including management of all investment events), and (through Tribal Education and Technology, CTAD) to develop a virtual space and software tools. Eastside Consulting's role was to guide and support the development of social enterprises and mentors.

Eastside Consulting's work on this project built on its experience and expertise in facilitating accelerated development of sustainable social enterprises and helping experienced professionals gain cross-sectoral experience.

Big Issue Invest, abdi ltd and the Social Enterprise Coalition were core stakeholders in the project. Big Issue Invest is a specialised provider of finance to social enterprises and is a part of The Big Issue group. It is led by social entrepreneurs and staffed by social financiers. They worked with Equal to identify a means to help developing social enterprises become investment-ready for Big Issue Invest. Out of this dialogue, the Equal-Invest programme was born.

abdi created a framework and standards for measuring the impact of the project on the fifteen social enterprises being developed, using the ROI Institute methodology. In addition, abdi used the ROI Institute scorecard approach to evaluate the project overall, assessing impact and value.

The Social Enterprise Coalition contributed their expertise to the project as the UK's leading advocate for social enterprise.
