Equal-Invest
Equal-Invest is a programme which offered ambitious social enterprises access to investment and expertise so that they could overcome the obstacles that limited their size and impact on the community.
The programme aimed to prepare a selection of social enterprises for growth investment through structured mentoring, with additional consultant support. This preparation lead to an opportunity for selected enterprises to pitch their aspirations to a range of investors.
Mentors also gained by applying their skills and experience in new contexts, learning with peers through action learning groups, preparing an enterprise for investment, and making a positive contribution to the social missions of the organisations they worked with.
There were many achievements made by the Equal-Invest programme. In July 2007, fifteen social enterprises were selected to participate in the first phase. All were registered enterprises and were trading and delivering social or environmental outcomes in a way that had the potential to upscale through investment. Seven investors pitched at the Finale on December 6th.
This web site is a resource on the programme which describes the main events and the project outcomes. There are also a number of resources on pitching, on how to prepare for investment, and on social enterprises generally.
